The Athletic Department for the College of Saint Benedict (CSB), invites applications for a full time (92%), benefit eligible position of Head Hockey Coach.

The head hockey coach is responsible for providing a high quality student-athlete experience and preparing and overseeing the team's competitive preparation for league play in the competitive Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. As the most significant person influencing the hockey program, the head coach is responsible for promoting and sustaining the positive reputation and image of CSB Hockey and the College of Saint Benedict Athletic Department. This is accomplished through the supervision of the student-athletes, recruits, student employees and assistant coaches. The head hockey coach is responsible for the appropriate behavior of the student-athletes and staff that he/she recruits and retains in his/her program as well as the performance and development of an intercollegiate hockey program.

The head coach will work in a spirit of cooperation and be responsive to the advice and instructions from the Athletic Director and other college administrators. The head coach will establish a good rapport with his or her team, the student body, staff, and members of the community. He/she will conduct training and game experiences in such a manner that the welfare of each participant is always of paramount consideration. The head coach is expected to promote good public relations that will reflect a positive image of CSB Athletics.

The College of Saint Benedict, located in central Minnesota, is a residential, liberal arts college for women that designs programs to meet the needs and aspirations of young women. CSB emphases women's leadership and a personal development profile that includes intellectual, spiritual, emotional and physical development.

Saint Benedict Athletics has 11 varsity sports teams at the NCAA Division III level and regularly places among the top teams in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC). CSB Athletics strives to meet this mission through excellence in athletic and recreation facilities in the MIAC and NCAA Division III that support excellence and opportunity. Responsibilities: Coaching
Plan and organize practice sessions
Evaluate individual and team performance
Use of video technology to scout opponents as well as teach and provide player feedback
Oversee and manage in-season, out-of-season, and summer strength program details
Manage the selection of and train/develop team captains and other team leaders
Conduct individual and team assessment meetings
Advance the CSB Hockey program in a highly competitive Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Create a positive team environment with regard to open and respectful communication with players all associated athletic staff on daily program operations
Identify, follow, and enforce CSB, MIAC, and NCAA rules and guidelines
Successfully complete NCAA Division III requirements and testing
Attend MIAC coaches meetings and assist in conference committees and assignments
Engage in professional development
Recruiting
Coordinate recruiting efforts with assistant coaches and CSB Admission staff
Support institutional recruiting initiatives with national market and diversity
Cultivating relationships with prospective student-athlete within NCAA recruiting guidelines
Identify and recruit student-athletes who will be successful in a liberal arts environment
Develop prospective recruits by networking with coaches and attending events
Schedule campus visits working in conjunction with admissions staff
Ability to use recruiting software systems
Submit recruit lists in a timely manner and complete recruiting summary report
Administrative Duties
Build and manage hockey budget
Build season schedule considering MIAC and NCAA regulations, budget, and academic scheduling
Coordinate logistics for all travel requirements
Coordinate and schedule annual installation of hockey locker room and support areas at rented facility
Hire and supervise stipend coaching staff, student managers and student employees
Maintain equipment, uniforms, and warm-ups
Schedule and coordinate off-campus sites for practices and contests
Communicate with faculty regarding extra-curricular conflicts for academics and athletics policy
Attend Athletic department staff meetings; attend Student Development meetings and events
Complete designated reports as requested by the athletic director
Work with Athletic Media Relations to maintain appropriate and accurate records, and update archives yearly
Participate in community responsibilities that may include committee assignments and campus engagement
Complete additional assignments as requested by the CSB Athletic Director, the Vice-President of Student Development and other college administrators
Public Relations and Fundraising
Participate in and support department fundraisers
Consider and development youth clinics in your sport
Host family/alumnae events each academic year in communication with the Alumnae Relations office
Participate and engage in community outreach
Follow guidelines for Athletic Media Relations activities, assist with media publications as well as monitor accuracy of website
Utilize in social media to promote the CSB Hockey program

Division of Student Development and Well-Being
Recognize and understand gender in shaping positive and effective approaches to educating women
Support student-athletes' academic and personal growth
Support and promote student-athlete involvement in the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)
Support and integrate CSB's commitment to Benedictine Values

SECONDARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
A portion of the duties of this position will include but not limited to supporting the operations of the CSB Athletic Department including game management and associated office duties.
Support and assist in the management of game day operations for fall and spring sports with regard to meeting officials, facility preparation, event ticketing, execute half time promotions and merchandise sales.
Assist in staffing supervision hired to work events at Outdoor Fields complex.
Support all fall and spring playoff & championship arrangements for MIAC and NCAA events.
Provide office support during winter months to hire and train student event staff to include game day activities, security, ushering, etc.
Implement game day promotions.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required
Master's degree preferred
3-5 years of hockey coaching experience; college level and experience coaching women preferred
Ability to recruit a high quality student-athlete to the College of Saint Benedict
Experience in managing financial aspect of a program
Demonstrate open and respectful communication with players all associated athletic staff
Experience in engaging with internal and external constituent groups associated with the hockey program
Proficiency with office technologies including Microsoft Office and familiarity with recruiting software systems
Strong ability to approach the academic and athletic aspects of the student athlete in a holistic manner
Ability to exhibit ethics and integrity
Understand the NCAA Division III philosophy
